THE ZONE

The door to the arena has opened. The temperature here is definitely cooler. A maze of walls spring up before you. Their smooth dark surface is trimmed in an alien glow. You find a place to hide in the dark, fog filled arena to begin your game. The voice booms a count down to start. “THREE” Your heart starts to pound. “TWO” Your adrenaline begins to pump. “ONE” Who’s on your team?!? You’ll find out soon enough.

“BEGIN!”

The arena itself springs to life! Pulse pounding music shakes the very fog surrounding you. Your skin electrifies with excitement. You grip your laser handles as your vest and laser come alive with lights and sounds. One of the players you saw hiding earlier is not on your team, and they know it. A flash of laser light streaks through the air whizzing past you harmlessly. You turn to the other teams player and grin as you whisper to them…

“Welcome to the Zone.”

Know The Arena:

Welcome Gamers! Looks like you have accessed the database for the arena inventory.  Well done! Below are the various items and obstacles you will encounter in the arena. Some, are my own special design.

Walls

Tough to have a maze with out any walls. These however almost seem to have a mind of their own. Some say it’s because the Arena is, or seems to be, alive. Gamer’s have turned a corner or ducked down an alleyway knowing they can slip past another player only to find there is a wall in their way. Did it move? Did the Arena somehow change? Is it just their imagination? It is a big space with lots of, walls…

Either way, use walls to guide you and give you cover. Walls are your friend inside the arena. Or are they? Watch out for a wall that shimmers or looks reflective. You can bounce your laser off of it and shoot around corners. Keep your eyes open!

A good number of walls have small windows in them as well. these windows offer you a great view of players below and make it very difficult to tag you while you are using them. Be careful though, being so focused looking out of a window leavers your back wide open.

Ramps

Ramps connect each of the levels in the arena.

Use them as a height advantage. From the top of a ramp you can give cover to other players as they make their way up to the higher levels. Watch your back! All it takes is one shot from behind to lose your vantage point here. It’s best to double up when using a ramp as a good defensive spot.

Barrels

Barrels are located all over the arena and offer great coverage. You can shoot over top of them or around the sides. If two are close together you can use the open spaces between them like a makeshift window. Similar to the windows in the walls. Be careful though, again your back is not covered when using a barrel to hide behind.

Towers

There are two towers located in the arena.

The Tower is one of the best defensive spots offering a great deal of coverage while allowing the gamer a wide viewing area. If positioning two teammates in a tower, your backs and fronts are well defended. At that point side attacks are your only concern, and with the positioning of the towers those can be tricky. Use the tower with a teammate and you easily might dominate the game.

Headquarters

There are two headquarters or bases, inside the arena.
These can be, in similar fashion to the towers, a very good defensive area. Depending on the type of game you are playing. If the G.E.M is not active the HQ makes a great place to hide and sneak attack other players. However, if the G.E.M. is active it might get a bit tricky.
When you are playing the Team HQ or capture the flag game, each HQ’s G.E.M. is the target of the opposite team. Tag players for points. Tag the HQ for A LOT of points! You can defend against the opposite team from inside or outside of the HQ. When in this game, guard the HQ with the last spark of your energy!

G.E.M.s

These little guys grow naturally here. The builders of your vest and laser harvested the “blobs” long ago and used their amazing abilities to build the items you have there. With the secrets of the builders long gone no one really knew how to use the G.E.M.s. Well, no one but myself that is. In the arena these blobs grow in a cluster we call a G.E.M. These G.E.M.s can be activated to hunt for the arena. That’s correct! It’s not just the players you have to be looking out for, the arena itself is alive!
These G.E.M.s can also work as transfer units and give you access to a number of upgrades just by tagging them. Depending on the amount of credits you have that is. Credits are earned during your game by zapping other player or the HQ. As you do, you collect points and credits. The credits can be used during your game to add special modifications to your vest and laser. Rapid fire, stealth tech, lots of things. Ask a zone marshal what game you are playing and find out what mood the G.E.M.s will be in!
